Riverview weekend: Winthrop Pop-Up Market Saturday, Fear Fest Grounds open Friday through Sunday
Winthrop hosts its monthly pop-up market Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fear Fest Grounds' haunted attractions run tonight through Sunday on Bloomingdale Avenue, with $10 general admission and free parking.

Winthrop in Riverview has two outings on the calendar this weekend. Fear Fest Grounds, a Halloween festival on Bloomingdale Avenue, opens its second weekend tonight and runs through Sunday, and Winthrop's monthly Pop-Up Market fills Sullivan Street on Saturday morning.
Pop-Up Market: Saturday morning
The October Winthrop Pop-Up Market runs Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sullivan Street. Winthrop lists more than 150 vendors selling handmade goods, art, plants, small-batch food and vintage items, along with food trucks.
Winthrop describes the market as family, kid and pet friendly. If Saturday is booked, the next market is Nov. 21 with the same 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. hours.
Fear Fest Grounds: tonight through Sunday
Fear Fest Grounds is open tonight, Oct. 16, and Saturday from 5 to 11 p.m., and Sunday from 5 to 10 p.m. It sets up at the corner of Bloomingdale Avenue and Watson Road, next to the Winthrop Barn Theatre at 11349 Bloomingdale Ave.

The festival includes three haunted houses with live actors, a separate kids-friendly house, a horror circus show, a foam party, jump houses, games, food vendors and fall photo spots.
The Dominguez family independently hosts the festival. Winthrop says it is the venue, not the organizer, and that Fear Fest Grounds is not a Winthrop-run or sponsored event.
What tickets cover
General admission is $10 and covers every activity except the three haunted houses and the hay ride. The $25 Mega Pass adds entry to all three haunted houses. Children 2 and under get in free, and parking is free.
Budget for extras: hay rides, food and merchandise are sold separately. Tickets can be bought online ahead of time or with cash or card at the entrance.
Later dates
Fear Fest Grounds has two more weekends after this one: Friday through Sunday, Oct. 23-25, and Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 29-31, finishing on Halloween night.

At the Barn Theatre, country singer Paisley Grace plays Sunday, Nov. 1. Doors open at 3 p.m., the show starts at 4 p.m., and tickets are $25.
