Part of a regional rollout
The Riverview café is the sixth of 10 Buddy Brew locations planned inside Sprouts stores across the region, and Sprouts included the Riverview store in its list of planned sites. Buddy Brew president and co-founder Susan Ward told the Observer that Sprouts approached the company and chose it as its coffee partner for Florida. She also said Buddy Brew had a big say in the café's design. She said Carrollwood is next, followed by Palm Harbor, Trinity and Sarasota.
Why the store wanted it
Sprouts store manager Matt Rainey said shoppers had been asking for another coffee option and welcome an alternative to Dunkin' and Starbucks. He told the Observer he expects the café to bring more foot traffic to the store.
The opening-day giveaways have already taken place. They included gift bags for the first 25 guests in line and a chance to win free coffee for a year.
